NLP Cannibalism Part 3 - The New model

Forgot to mention in the last post; the most neglected people in the world of NLP training companies are Practitioners (until they sign up to be Master Practitioners of course...).

I want to be very clear: If you've taken training with NLP Centres CANADA in Toronto, Mississauga or anywhere, or if you've taken training with any other company, the new model includes YOU! The same model will accommodate beginners, intermediate and experts in NLP.

In fact we WELCOME people from other training companies. We'd love to have you come and keep your training current!

E-mail me if you're interested...

:-)

NLP Cannibalism Part 2

Okay we’ve figured it out.

If you read my NLP Cannibalism posting, you know the ‘Elephant’ in the NLP room is that there are no NLP Training courses being offered in the GTA (except ours) that follow Canadian and International standards.

As a matter of fact, off the top of my head I'm only aware of one other company in Canada that does.

The problem, as I mentioned is time and money.

This message is to tell you that we’ve done it. We have come up with a way to train NLP without your having to put out a couple thousand dollars, hoping that you get what you've paid for.

The training model is still in a beta form, but we're working on it. All you need to know is this:
- The fee is very affordable,
- The training will be top notch.
- You won't have to 'waste' vacation time

Stay tuned - as the last pieces fall into place, we’ll be revealing the model over the next short while!

PS - If you’re interested in learning NLP but time and/or money have prevented you from taking the first step, send me a quick e-mail at hugh@nlpworks.com

Belief Cysts

A dozen or so years back I had a sports-related injury; I wrecked my knee one sunny spring day.

Being a young man I didn't bother going to the doctor. I walked funny for about a month but the pain faded only to come up 4 or 5 times a year when I was walking up stairs.

A couple of years ago I thought (duhh) it would be a smart move to check it out; to make sure that the knee wouldn't become a problem in future so I went to the doctor who sent me for an MRI.

All I can say is imagine being slid into a washing machine that's playing German Deathmetal at 140db....

Long story short, there is a small scar that is being shielded by a 'cyst'. So the scar is unable to fully heal because its covered over by a protective shell..

Interesting...that led me to think about how many psychological scars each of us has that is covered over by some sort of protective shell. Further, the paradoxical nature of a protective shell that actually perpetuates the injury...

It brings to mind the phrase, "Nursing a hurt..." which ironically is the same as picking a scab so the injury will never actually heal.

If you took a moment and wrote down some of the 'belief cysts' that protect some old emotional injuries from healing, you might begin to wonder what exactly the benefit is in keeping these pains alive...

And you might choose to let some of them go because they're not useful anymore.

Inappropriate emotions

Bandler and Grinder postulated that there are no inappropriate emotions, just contextual mismatches.

It's appropriate to laugh, but not at a funeral. It's appropriate to cry, but not at a comedy show.

Their position was that laughter and crying are appropriate but must be matched to the situation.

The other part of this is there are no inappropriate emotions or states...and I think I have a problem with that. Just yesterday while training Self Management, we came across this when doing the 'Automatics' process to help someone disconnect from a time when they exhibited behaviour or a state that was useless.

I'd suggest that there are some states and emotions that are useless. Here's a short list (and please send along your suggestions if you find more)

- Rage
- Despair
- Self Pity
- Resentment

Here's a quote I came across this morning while reading something Steve Andreas wrote.

Remember - this is from a guy who spent 27 years in prison...

Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your
enemies.
