What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis definitions can vary but essentially hypnosis is a very naturally occurring state which some people think of as being ‘out-of-control’ but that’s actually the opposite of what is really going on. Hypnosis is simply a state where the unconscious mind emerges and the conscious one recedes. Hypnosis is notorious thanks to live performances where people are made to perform unbelievable actions, but the practice of hypnotherapy has been extensively clinically proven as a medical and therapeutic treatment. Hypnosis has been used to reduce pain, anxiety or to help issues relating to a psychological imbalance.
How Does Hypnosis Work?
Hypnosis in actuality really has little to no resemblance to the stereotyped images that we have grown accustomed through the media. According to John Kihlstrom, “The hypnotist does not hypnotize the individual. Rather, the hypnotist serves as a sort of coach or tutor whose job is to help the person become hypnotized” While often described as a sleep-like trance; hypnosis is best described as a state of focused attention, increased suggestibility and vivid fantasies.
NLP & hypnosis are like chocolate & peanut butter…
Great by themselves but awesome together! NLP was born when Richard Bandler and Frank Pucelik were ‘modeling’ Fritz Perls’ Gestalt Therapy by putting on Gestalt Workshops. John Grinder observed Bandler and Pucelik and noticed they were in fact even BETTER than Perls because they lacked some of his limiting beliefs about the sources of childhood trauma.
Thus began the field of NLP – just as Grinder painstakingly extracted the Gestalt Therapy models through observing Bandler and Pucelik (and watching movies of Perls), the three (and others) modeled the genius of Virginia Satir and most notably…Milton Erickson who was the father of Ethical Hypnotherapy. Erickson single handedly took hypnosis from being connected to the occult and witchcraft, to a respectable method that is currently used by virtually all of the field of psychology.

An Introduction to Ericksonian Hypnosis 2 Day Course
In this 2 day course, Dr. Mike Mandel teaches you the foundations of Milton Erickson’s work. Through language patterns, metaphor and other mainstays of the Ericksonian method, attendees will acquire the skills to induce, utilize and terminate trance for a variety of purposes. Readily adaptable to NLP and other types of changework, these gentle but powerful hypnotic techniques can be incorporated into other systems, or used as effective stand alone means of integration and transformation.
Mike Mandel will be repeating his vastly successful Introduction to Ericksonian Hypnosis course in downtown Toronto.
“The course was phenomenal, a really giant first step into the world of hypnotism. I found myself constantly engaged and thoroughly entertained.”
“Mike was clearly so adept and well versed in the field that I found constant learning moments through his presentation of the material. Slow enough that a newbie like myself could synthesize the material and yet fast enough to present a very wide breadth of information in only 2 days. And I don’t have the time here to get into his genuine authenticity as a facilitator. I left the two days feeling supercharged to learn even more, but I would never want to do it with anyone but Mike.”
Last time we had to turn people away at the door, so if you’re interested I would recommend HIGHLY that you register now!
I’ve studied a fair amount *about*hypnosis – history, theory, scripts, language patterns, etc… Yet all the information I’ve gathered over the course of several years pales in comparison to the knowledge and practical understanding gained by experiencing these past couple days with Mike.
Some people say ‘award winning’ as if it means something…this is a guy who won a prestigious award 6 times
Mike was a phenomenal wellspring of knowledge, while being one of the most humble and accessible individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure to interact with.
This is your one chance – whether you are a complete beginner who wants solid and foundational hypnosis skills, or an experienced hypnotist who wants to take it to the next level…
